When Girls and Female Mentors Collaborate on the TED-Ed Stage...Big Ideas Get Shared

OMG did you see...our TED-Ed letters for the stage are huge!

What country are you from? I heard your topic's amazing!

Is it true that a Nobel Prize winner is your Être TED-Ed mentor?

How can I get a free ticket to attend this live in NYC? Wait, is there a livestream?

Comments we're starting to hear as Être girls across 7 countries edit and rehearse their TED-Ed Talks before they take the stage one month from now at our first-ever live TED-Ed event!

We have questions too - we can hear more girls, women, parents, teachers and the coolest aunts saying. We hear you. And we've got you covered. Below are important details about the TED-Ed LIVE event for girls coming up on October 20th in NYC we're beyond excited to share...

  • When, where and how do I attend? Join us Sunday, October 20th, 2024 from 10am to 2pm ET in one of two ways: Live at the 52nd Street Project Inc theater in NYC (yep, the whole place is coincidentally Être orange) or via livestream at the same time. Free tickets and registration? Grab all the spots you need here asap!

  • When you say girls in 7 countries...? We mean it. We're overjoyed to welcome young speakers this year from Australia, Canada, India, South Korea, Tunisia, the U.K. and the U.S. It's our most diverse class - both in countries represented and topics chosen.

  • Will there be keynotes? You bet! Get ready to hear from Être Executive Board member Alena Analeigh McQuarter, the youngest person of color ever accepted to medical school (at 13!), and fellow Exec Board member and professional skydiver Melanie Curtis.

  • Give us a hint about the topics? Think gender equality and engineering your confidence. Consider changing roles for women in media and AI. Add ADHD superpowers and the power of HERstory. Wonder with us whether altering DNA can alter your personality...and hear what the Nobel Prize winner at the heart of this research told a 12-year-old speaker.

  • Um, a Nobel Prize winner? Can you tell us more about the mentors? Like every year of Être's TED-Ed program, the mentors are epic. From CEOs to celebs, mental health experts and media gurus, founders, physicians, dancers and diplomats. All women leading in their fields and willing to share wisdom with girls ready to take the stage.

  • Remind us how girls can get involved in the next season of Être TED-Ed? That's the easiest part! Just DM me or email me to save a spot in the Class of 2025. The series is free, fun and a phenomenal way to meet mentors in fields of interest...earlier than you think is possible.

Big ideas matter and TED-Ed has known this for a solid 10 years. In fact, this year marks the educational conference's 10th anniversary, and we couldn't be more excited to help celebrate.

We're honored to have had Être girls at the party for 4 of TED-Ed's 10 years. Started during COVID when girls found themselves without their usual outlets of self-expression - my soccer season is cancelled...there's no spring musical...community service projects are on hold - Être's TED-Ed Club allowed girls at all of our schools to raise their voices.

To share their big ideas.

To connect with epic mentors, summon their courage and step to the mic.

Join us on October 20th by registering here and save seats for the girls in your world to cheer on other girls. Who knows? Maybe the next TED-Ed talk you hear will be theirs.

Looking forward,

Illana

PS: No Êxtras this week...just a heartfelt ask to help us spread the word about these extraordinary speakers. I'm grateful to TED-Ed and our epic mentors for helping to springboard these girls to the stage - let's fill the room and applaud them with every ounce of our awe.
