Countdown to 2025: Times Square Tests NYE Confetti Drop and Includes Être Girls’ Written Wishes
Every year on the NYC Times Square Wishing wall, people leave their wishes for the new year to be included in the 3,000 pounds of confetti that falls as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve.
Yesterday morning between West 45th street and 46th streets, Times Square co-sponsor Planet Fitness ran a confetti test in preparation, and the confetti that rained down included some of the written wishes from people who submitted them through the virtual wishing wall in Times Square.
Être girls’ wishes were among them…and loads more will fall with the official ball drop at midnight tomorrow night.
What were some of their wishes?
I wish for an amazing 2025 with health, happiness and great times for everyone wrote an Être girl from Chicago.
My wish is to go to Disney with my family typed a young Être fan.
Remember to think happy and be kind added a journalist who follows Être.
I wish I could meet Trinity Rodman in person texted a middle school Être soccer star.
These wishes and more sent in from around the globe were submitted to the Times Square Wishing Wall over the last few weeks and seeing them flood our DMs made me unspeakably happy.
Whether they spoke of family and friends or future goals and burgeoning dreams, the wishes we received made me smile as we watch the year winnow.
They sounded like hope.
They brimmed with compassion.
They resonated with a vibe greater than New Year’s resolutions or wishes – because they spoke of a collective joy waiting just around the corner in 2025.
And some of them, along with a smile, made me burst out laughing with a recognition that called back the years in a flash.
I wish my bangs would finally grow texted a middle school Être girl – and I could almost hear her sigh.
What’s my wish for 2025?
I wish for girls everywhere to stare into mirrors and see futures so bright they have to squint. Futures filled with purpose and positivity, mentor moments that matter, and the glow of achievement that feels like confetti is pouring down around them.

May they meet their role models, ask their questions, and stride into new settings with so much confidence that their bangs swing boldly as every head turns.
My wish is for their wishes to come true…and for all of us to have a ball making it happen.
I can’t wait to dive in as 2025 arises – Happy New Year to all.
Looking forward,
Illana
